Cutting Your Spending Habit
Whether your in a lot of debt or not, your going to have to cut your spending habit. If you likes to hang out often and have fun, make a sacrifice. Start telling your friends and family member that you can't hang out as often as you normally would.
You don't have to sit their and explain why you can't go, just tell them that your not available. Also, make a list when you go to the grocery store. Believe it or not, you waist a lot of gas traveling back to the store, to get an item you left behind.
So be sure to make it your business, to make a list of the items you need, before leaving your house. By using common since, you should be able to prevent yourself from waisting unnecessary money.
Don't Buy What You Don't Need
Don't get into the habit of being in competition with the next door neighbor. So what if he owns a house and you don't. It would shock you, if you found out the next door neighbor was about to lose his home, because he couldn't afford to pay the
mortgage
or the taxes on his property. Also don't allow the media to influence you into thinking that you need to buy every fancy item on the market.
Half the people that buy all the fancy things, only use what they buy once or twice, and then toss it to the side. Don't live above your means.
I know a lot of people are in debt, because they want to live like a celebrity. Don't get me wrong, we all want nice things. But if it's going to cost you your freedom, do you really need it? If you own any credit cards, with an interest rate above 13% percent, cut it up. And if you owe money on it, try to pay it off as soon as possible.
Don't Close Your Credit Card Down
Their is a big difference between just cutting up your credit card and then closing it down. By cutting up your credit card after you've reached a zero balance, your not effecting your credit.
However, when you close your account down completely, your taking points away from your credit score. So if you own a credit card, cut it up after you reach a zero balance, but don't close it down.
Protect Your Identity
Be sure to never leave your important information around, once it is shredded. Normally when I shred something up, I don't throw it all away in the same garbage can.
I might flush some pieces down the toilet and throw some away in the garbage, to reassure myself that my information is out of reach. I use to live in an apartment complex and every morning or night, I would find an unfamiliar face digging threw the garbage and taking away big bags.
